What I love about Tewantin

Tewantin is situated on the Noosa River, only a 10-13 minute drive from Hastings Street and Noosa Main Beach.

The Noosa River is surrounded by stunning natural scenery, including the Noosa Everglades, and is the launching point for the ferry to Noosa’s North Shore, Great Sandy National Park and Fraser Island. The river is a haven for natural birdlife and is suitable for fishing, kayaking, and boating.

Having lived and worked in Tewantin since 1999, Paul has seen the town emerge from a sleepy retirement village of 15,000 dwellings into a vibrant family community of 45,000 homes.

“When I first moved here, 70% of residents were over the age of 65. Now there are more and more people aged in their mid-30s upwards. People are a bit friendlier in Tewantin. You’ll always bump into a familiar face who will say hello. It’s also got some great schools and is only a 10-minute bike ride from Gympie Terrace.” says Paul.

Tewantin has several heritage-listed buildings, including the Tewantin Post Office, the Old Tewantin School, and the Tewantin War Memorial.

Tewantin features a diverse range of shops, cafes, restaurants and the Tewantin Noosa RSL.  Tewantin State School and Noosa District State High School are within close proximity and the Tewantin Sports Complex features a soccer field, cricket pitch and BMX track.

Weekly markets are held every Sunday where you can purchase a range of locally made goods, fresh produce and handmade crafts.

The houses in Tewantin vary in style, size and age but generally have a relaxed and laid-back feel that reflects the town’s coastal location.

Charming Queenslanders and historic homes can be found scattered throughout the older, more established streets.  Newer homes, including modern designs that incorporate the latest in sustainable building practices and eco-friendly features, are also available.
